This newspaper advertisement promotes an appearance of the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus in Jacksonville, Illinois in the summer of 1926 . . . the first full season that Clyde Beatty presented an act consisting of only lions and tigers.

2021 marked the 100th Anniversary of Clyde Beatty leaving home to join Howe's Great London Circus. To mark that occasion, a comprehensive look at Clyde Beatty's career appeared in Bandwagon Volume 65, Issue No. 4 (2021).

The day after I read the fine article on Clyde's career by Chris Berry and Dave Price, I stumbled across an entry in the National Archives.  It is part of a subject index of newsreel films made by Universal from 1929-1967.  It was filmed on April 14, 1935, and has the subject index "Clyde Beatty and His 'Cats' Raring to Go" while the personality is King, Allen. (Who worked cats and bears.)

It says that not all the films still exist, but if anyone wants a scan of this entry, email me at reinertg@hushmail.com  The record entry at the archives website is https://catalog.archives.gov/id/102702382
