Ella Mae Anderson - Eddie "Rochester" Anderson's Mother

    Dusty Sage posted this information on a page devoted to Vaudeville history.  "Big Ed Anderson on the left. He is Eddie "Rochester" Anderson's father. Big Ed had been a Minstrel performer. Eddie's mother Ella Mae was a Circus tight-rope walker. Second man in photo is Vaudeville comedian Goines. 1900"

    Does anyone have information on Ella Mae?  I am not sure what last name she used when performing in the circus.

    According to the Wikipedia post on Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, his mother Ella Mae Anderson's career as a tightrope walker was ended by a fall. It doesn't say when or where she fell. According to her obituary, Ella lived in Los Angeles from 1929 until her death in 1948.  Her husband predeceased her.

    This link has Eddie Anderson’s mother’s grave and a newspaper clipping regarding her death.  There’s a little family genealogy.
