About the Event

The December 17th edition of Circus History Live! featured Peggy Adler and Dibirma Jean Burnham discussing the Pallenberg Wonder Bears! Emil Pallenberg's bicycle-riding Wonder Bears were a major attraction in circuses, vaudeville, and motion pictures in the United States and Europe for almost 50 years.

Peggy Adler authored Pallenberg Wonder Bears - From the Beginning (2022) in collaboration with Emil Pallenberg's granddaughter Dibirma Jean Burnham, who provided family archival photographs, vaudeville, circus, and movie contracts as well as her grandfather's handwritten memoir. Both reside in Clinton Connecticut which was the home of Emil Pallenberg and the training facility for his bears. Peggy previously wrote Images of America CLINTON (2019) as well as several other titles. She is a member of the Circus Historical Society and currently chairs the Clinton Historic District Commission.

This episode of Circus History Live! was hosted by Circus Historical Society vice president Chris Berry.
